When reaching out to a candidate, you want to make sure they have the most accurate first impression of what it’s like to work in your team. This should be reflected in your initial message. It would be good practice to cover:

  • Why join your company?

  • What has your team been working on lately?

  • What is your team like?

  • What’s your working location policy?

  • How does your team work?

Here is an example you can refer to when building your own first initial message! Remember, your Account Manager can help you craft the best first message – so get in touch if needed!

Example

Hi [Name],

I’m reaching out to you as we’re currently looking for a Software Engineer with a start-up mentality to join our Engineering team in [City name] and help us pioneer in the [industry name].

Our tech stack includes Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, Kotlin, Google Cloud, Kubernetes.

I would be very interested in understanding what challenges you’re looking for in your next step and telling you more about our mission and plans we have here at [Company Name].

Would you be up for a virtual coffee next week?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing from you!
