Q3 2026 Release Notes

Retiring Job Applications

N
Written by Natalie Hoal

Effective: 3 August - 2 September 2026

What's changing

We're retiring job applications, the feature that lets candidates apply to roles directly instead of waiting to be matched. From 2 September, they’ll be fully removed.

Why

Job applications solved a piece of a problem: giving candidates more control. But the numbers show it broke the thing OfferZen exists to protect. 9/10 applications were expiring unopened. This turned OfferZen into a job board: spray applications, wait, get ghosted. That's the exact model OfferZen was built to replace. Companies come to you on OfferZen, not the other way round.

👉 You can read more about this decision in this blog.

Timeline

  • 17 August: New applications will be stopped. No new positions get published. In-product notices go live for anyone still using applications.

  • 2 September: Any pending applications will be closed and the applications page is removed for companies.

For candidates

Once job applications are gone, you won't be able to browse and apply to job listings.

If you have an application already in progress, it keeps moving through the process as normal right up until 2 September.

For companies

The Applications page is removed from your view on 2 September. If applications were your preferred source of candidates on OfferZen, your Account Manager will contact you directly before any of this goes live, to walk through what changes and what to do next.
